About the Artist

A year-round resident of Marion, Massachusetts, Ms. Riseley paints the landscape and seascape of the southeastern coastal region of Massachusetts and New England. Her work has been on exhibit at the Marion Art Center in Marion, MA, at Highfield Hall in Falmouth, MA, at annual art shows in Rowayton, CT, at the biannual Watch Hill RI Memorial Library & Improvement Society art shows, and at the Century House on Nantucket Island. She has professional affiliations with the Marion Art Center, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and Weir Farm Art Center where she was selected as April 2018 Artist-in-Residence at Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton, CT.

Born in Fairfield, CT, and raised mostly in Westport, Riseley’s visual memories are dominated by natural spaces, in and around Compo Parkway and Longshore.  She graduated from Staples High School and from Ithaca College where she pursued a B.S. in psychology. After spending the early part of her career in the publishing industry in New York City, (Prentice-Hall, Watson Guptill, McGraw-Hill) and doing postgraduate design coursework at NYU and Parsons School of Design, Riseley managed a freelance design business, Designs on Wooster, before dedicating herself to education as a communications professional in independent schools. She began painting landscapes during summers on Martha?s Vineyard and has apprenticed with Bridgewater, CT artist, Lori Zummo. An avid outdoors person and conservationist, Kyle served as one of the early Open Space park rangers for the Ridgefield (CT) Conservation Commission. As a landscape painter, her time spent outdoors in the natural world is clearly reflected in her work. Her early career in design and photography have influenced the many ways she uses color, light and form to bring the viewer into her world of mossy habitats, sandy walkways, and marbled skies.

Riseley’s paintings are held in private collections in Connecticut, New York, Nantucket, Martha?s Vineyard, Massachusetts, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Colorado, and Maine.
